No living Thing dares ignore my Call. For I am that which has always been, since this Universe was birthed from the Ashes of the Last. I am the Hunger that dooms Worlds. I am he who is beyond such frail Concepts as good and evil. I am The Free Market, and I must feed.
Agreed. In addition, Beeler’s use of the image of early Conquistadors is very appropriate given the — to put it lightly — problematic relationship between North American and European coffee consumption and South American and African production. Doublegood.
This cartoon depicts the huge number of unemployed people weighing down the welfare state and thus holding back the economy. The tragedy of this waste of human potential is heightened by the observation that even a high level of education isn’t saving people any more. Implicit in the metaphor is the obvious solution that if everyone got out and pushed, the economy could move forward. Clearly, then, the welfare state should incorporate public employment. A good cartoon.
Romney von Count begins to count the number of jobs lost since Obama took office, but has to stop and catch his breath before going on to count the number of jobs regained in the private sector, which by now number among them jobs lost under Bush as well. A good cartoon.
